Functional Safety Exercise: Attention RHS Parents and Students

Dear RHS parents and students,

The state of Ohio mandates all school districts to complete an exercise cycle of our Emergency Operations Plans every three years.  This year Ross is tasked with completing a functional exercise. Also called an operations-based exercise, it means you actually go out and do a drill or practice. The focus is to see how policies and procedures work in a realistic, but still simulated setting. In functional exercises, the practice includes changes in the situation that management must respond to and adjust. Our functional exercise will revolve around the reunification of students to parents after an incident...

Incoming Seniors - Vaccine Information

Important information for all incoming 12th grade students. All seniors must show proof of two meningitis vaccines. The second vaccine must be given after the age of 16. If the student's first meningitis vaccine is given after the age of 16, only one shot is required. Seniors attending Ross High School or Butler Tech must provide a record from a physician with the date the shot was given to Ross High School. Records must be provided prior to the first day of the 2018-2019 school year. Students without proof of the meningitis vaccine will face exclusion from school as required by law in the state of Ohio. Records can be mailed to RHS, faxed to 863-8340, or emailed to the school nurse at  Please contact Shelli Turco with any questions.

Ross Local School District new website to go live May 2, 2018

We are  pleased to announce the launch of the new Ross Local School District website on Wednesday, May 2, 2018. The updated site is still located at (Click the title to read more.)

Press Release

Our hearts are broken over the events that have transpired over the past 24 hours involving three of our students.  We loved Austin, and our prayers go out to his friends and family.  These events are yet another reminder that no community is immune from the scourge of senseless gun violence.  We are sure that as the police investigation unfolds, more details will come to light.  However, that does not and will not change the fact that a young man has lost his life and, regardless of the circumstances, that is a tragedy.

Exam Info

Just a reminder that ALL STUDENTS are expected to take final exams unless you are exempt or don't have an exam in a particular class.  You are only expected to be in attendance for those blocks during which you have a required exam.  Students that do not have an exam during a particular block or may be exempt for whatever reason are not expected to be in attendance.  Parents do not have to call in or provide a note unless you are missing a required exam and in such cases, only approval from administration or a medical note would allow the student to make up the exam.

Attendance Policy, Back-To-School Newsletter Now Available

The State of Ohio requires that all children between the ages of 6 and 18 years of age attend school every day that school is open.  All students are, therefore, required to attend school regularly.  Students are also expected to be on time for class so that they may receive the maximum benefit from the academic program.  Effective July 1, 2017, Ohio law mandated public schools to provide closer supervision and documentation for student attendance (House Bill 410).
